Hello all! Katie Kerr here, writing to you from the studio at Haute Wrap. I started working with photographer Nina Fox in early 2013, shortly after Haute Wrap was launched. It’s been a very busy and exciting time since then, with new products in development, trade shows to attend, and orders to fill. With much to be done in preparation for introducing Haute Wrap, there was only one task that Nina found daunting: writing her bio. As far as Nina is concerned, Elliott Erwitt’s quote sums it up nicely: “The whole point of taking pictures is so that you don’t have to explain things with words.” It became evident that if I didn’t put a little something down on paper about Nina, her background might forever remain a mystery…
A Southern California native, Nina is fun, feisty, and passionate about many things in her life including her daughters, her dogs, her home in beautiful Sun Valley, Idaho, and her photography. Though a consistent part of her life from a young age up to the present, photography wasn’t always Nina’s primary focus (no pun intended). Throughout the years, Nina has thrown herself into several successful business endeavors and, most importantly, raising her two children.
It has been in recent years that, her daughters now grown and other professional ventures behind her, Nina turned back to photography as a creative and, for the first time, professional outlet. With a line of home décor in mind, Nina began to experiment with printing her images on fabric and was struck with inspiration for photographic gift wrap. Upon realizing that there was nothing quite like it in the marketplace, Nina decided to put her photography to an unexpected use by creating Haute Wrap and launching this unique line of one-of-a-kind photographic gift wrap and other photographic-related products that will be introduced in the Fall 2013 Collection. Additional offerings in the Spring Collection are tabletop acrylic frames in a variety of sizes as well as a selection of vibrant acrylic wall art featuring Nina Fox Photography.
Photography, though always present in Nina’s life through documenting family and milestones, sometimes took a back seat to her other business enterprises and life’s priorities. In the end, all roads lead to doing the thing you love. Proud of the work she has done thus far to develop her photography and Haute Wrap’s collection, Nina never loses sight of the fact that we are forever students of our craft. This particular endeavor seems fitting, because once you get to know Nina you’ll understand that she is the type of person who loves to give a gift rather than receive one, and believes in being authentic in all that you do.
Nina has finalized the Fall 2013 Collections under the Haute Wrap name, which will include an expanded line of paper products including tissue paper, envelopes, and liners, and will also introduce accessories and home décor such as oversized linen pillows, glass trays, and Italian woven scarves.
“You don’t make a photograph with just a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, and the people you have loved.” – Ansel Adams
